The Hafez Jreij enterprise is located on the Anfeh shore, in the region of Koura, in North Lebanon. The work of this SME consists in the extraction of flower salt, more commonly known as fleur de sel.
It is a hand-harvested sea salt collected by scraping only the top layer of salt floating on the water surface of the marshes. The harvest is done using a wooden rake with a long handle.
The village of Anfeh is a historical site and a peninsula characterized by its shape and ancient ruins. Most of its people are fishermen and salt workers, the rest have emigrated in search of a better standard of living.
FTL encourages villagers to preserve their work by purchasing fleur de sel in bulk quantities.
