From the 16th until the 27th of June 2018, and for the third consecutive year, Fair Trade Lebanon has had the pleasure of hosting and organizing the trip of French volunteers from the NGO Artisans du Monde, in the aim of experiencing eco-friendly and rural tourism in Lebanon.
The trip revolved around visiting several food-processing cooperatives and partners of Fair Trade Lebanon, while meeting and learning about the producers in their work environment.
From West Bekaa (Cooperatives of Fourzol, Aita Al Fokhar and Mheidthe) to North Bekaa (Coteaux Heliopolis for wine production in Deir el Ahmar) and heading up to Northern Lebanon (Cooperatives of Fneideq and Khreibet el Jundi), tourists have enjoyed several food workshops, lunches with the producers and have stayed in local guest houses in the region. This trip also included excursions in nature and hikes in the forest of Qamouaa in Akkar and in the village of Kfardebian in addition to visiting the mesmerizing convent of Taanayel.
Last but not least, the group of tourists has also had the opportunity to visit the cities of Beirut and Tripoli as well as key touristic sites such as Baalbeck and Menjez.
Looking forward for a new eco-friendly trip next year in Lebanon!
