From 14 to 19 of January 2018, Fair Trade Lebanon (FTL) was on a business trip in Morocco, in the framework of the partnership agreement signed with Fairtrade Africa & Middle East. The aim of the trip was to visit Fairtrade-certified Moroccan producers and carry out an assessment of their general status, suggest recommendations and help establish contacts between all producers.
Lamia Karaki, Technical Food Consultant, and Benoit Berger, Project Director, visited several producer groups, spread between Essaouira, Agadir, Taroudant, Taliouine and Boumalne Dades (Ouarzazate). These groups produce argan oil, essential oils and their cosmetic derivatives, saffron, rose water, rosebuds and citrus fruits.
These multiple encounters aim to develop collaboration opportunities between Fair Trade actors from both countries. Whether through experience sharing, common events organization, access to new markets with South-South commercial relations or through the joint promotion of products from the South of the Mediterranean towards European countries.
